Aida Esther Cartagena

Aida Esther Cartagena nació en Orocovis, PR el 11 de Julio de 1953. Falleció el 21 de Abril de 2025 en su hogar en Rock Hill, SC, rodeada por sus familiares cercanos. Fue precedida en muerte por sus padres, Fernando Cartagena y Luisa Ortolaza y sus hermanas, Panchita y Carmín Cartagena y un hermano José Cartagena. Le sobreviven sus hermanas, Justina Ortolaza, Laura Castoire, María Cartagena, Paula Esquivel y Teresita Limón. Sus hijos, Royers Omar Cartagena y Sugeil Jerez. Sus nietos, Selena Cartagena e Isaac Cartagena y sus bisnietos, Nikolai Panty and Aria Panty. 

Aida era muy querida también por numerosos sobrinos y otros familiares demasiado numerosos para nombrar. Además, se le quería mucho en la congregación de los Testigos de Jehová por una vasta hermandad. 

Se bautizó como Testigo de Jehová en New York en el mes de febrero de 1981. Desde entonces ha servido a Jehová Dios fielmente. Aida disfrutaba mucho de hacer que los precursores y los ancianos de la congregación se sintieran muy queridos y por eso solía hacer manualidades y regalos para ellos. Lo más importante para ella era su servicio a Jehová, seguido por su familia. Revelación 21:3,4, Salmos 37:10,11 y Juan 17:3.

Algunos de sus pasatiempos favoritos eran practicar piano, pintar, tejer, escribir poemas, y hacer postres deliciosos. También le encantaba la jardinería y cada año tenía las flores más bonitas. 

Aida con mucha alegría trató de cuidar a los que la rodeaban de manera mejor posible y siempre se le recordará como una amorosa madre, abuela, bisabuela, hermana, tía y amiga. 

La familia desea dar a todos muchas gracias por su amoroso apoyo, consuelo, visitas amorosas, llamadas, mensajes de texto, alimentos y ayuda para cuidar de ella cuando se necesitó. Oramos para que Jehová Dios nos dé a todos la paz que necesitamos en estos momentos. Gracias por pasar este tiempo con nosotros recordando a nuestra querida Aida.

Aida Esther Cartagena was born in Orocovis, P.R. on July 11, 1953. She passed away on April 21, 2025, at her home in Rock Hill, SC, surrounded by her close family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fernando Cartagena and Luisa Ortolaza. Her sisters, Panchita and Carmín Cartagena and her brother, José Cartagena. She is survived by her sisters, Justina Ortolaza, Laura Castoire, María Cartagena, Paula Esquivel, and Teresita Limón; her son, Royers Omar Cartagena, and daughter Sugeil Jerez; her grandchildren, Selena Cartagena and Isaac Cartagena; and her great-grandchildren, Nikolai Panty and Aria Panty. 

Aida was loved by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives too numerous to name. She was also greatly loved in the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses by a vast fellowship. She was baptized as a Jehovah's Witness in New York, February 8, 1981. Since then, she has served Jehovah God faithfully. Aida greatly enjoyed making the pioneers and elders of the congregation feel loved and, for this reason, she often handmade crafts as gifts for them. Serving Jehovah was the most important thing to her, followed by her family. Revelation 21:3,4, Psalms 37:10,11 and John 17:3.

Some of her favorite hobbies included practicing the piano, painting, knitting, writing poems, and making delicious desserts. She also loved gardening and had the most beautiful flowers every year. Aida joyfully took care of those around her to the best of her ability and will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. 

The family wishes to thank everyone for their loving support, comfort, visits, calls, text messages, food, and help in caring for her, when needed. We pray that Jehovah God gives us all inner peace during this difficult time. Thank you for spending this time with us remembering our beloved Aida.
