Alice May Bailey, 66, a long-time resident of Rantoul, died peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, February 21, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Dayton, Ohio in 1946, Alice was a devout Christian who loved her church and her God. Dedicated service at each church she attended was a core part of her life, and she served in various ministries including teaching children and providing childcare in the nurseries, community outreach efforts and leading bible study groups. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending quality time with her children and grandchildren, and she was a devoted and doting maternal presence to all. Alice was a military wife who enjoyed a 30 year career with civil service that included assignments in 8 U.S. cities and a tour of duty in Spain. She is survived by a brother and a sister, her three children Michael, Mark and Marie Bailey - all graduates of Rantoul Township High School, and six grandchildren who loved her dearly. Friends are invited to meet directly at Carolinas Cornerstone Church, 1790 Gardendale Road, Fort Mill, South Carolina on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. for a memorial service commemorating her uplifting life. Memorial gifts may be made to the Carolinas Cornerstone Church, P.O. Box 938, Fort Mill, SC 29716. Palmetto Funeral Home in Fort Mill, South Carolina has been entrusted with the arrangements.
