Alida Augusta (Van Ravenswaay) DeCamp
Ms. Alida DeCamp, resident of Fort Mill, SC, passed away peacefully on the 24th of February, 2022. She was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on February, 10th 1945, to John Van Ravenswaay and Agnes (Smit) Van Ravenswaay. Alida, one of 13 siblings, was raised in Kalamazoo where she developed a love for music and learned to play instruments, including cello and piano. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and later moved south and attended Florida Bible College, in Hollywood, FL.
Alida’s professional career spanned many fields, including banking, caring for the elderly at an assisted living facility, and customer service. “Ms. Lida” was probably best known for the nearly two decades working at Chick-Fil-A, both in Winter Park, FL and Fort Mill, SC, where it was “her pleasure” to serve and be a positive influence in the lives of countless guests and coworkers alike. She started nearly every morning in prayer and devotions, and in her free time enjoyed baking her [almost famous] bread, sewing, knitting, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her father John, and mother Agnes, sisters Anita Shoemaker and Victoria Van Ravenswaay Brown, brothers Garrett, John, Henry, and Victor. Alida is survived by her son Marcus W. DeCamp II, grandchildren Keona and Jadon, brothers Fred, Vincent, Robert, Timothy, August, and James.
According to Alida’s wishes, cremation has been performed. As of this time, there will not be a traditional memorial service, however plans are being made to celebrate her life at a later date. Condolences, as well as photos, may be posted through the Tribute Wall at www.palmettofuneralgroup.com
