Rock Hill – Mrs. Amanda Brooke Sanders Karraker, 34, died earlier this month.
A native of Clover, SC, Mrs. Karraker was a daughter of Michael Sanders and Brenda Currence.
Amanda, also known as Pippy Longstocking, had a range of interests and characteristics that made her unique. Her long pigtails were a constant feature of her appearance, hence the nickname. As a great artist, Amanda enjoyed drawing beautiful pictures of nature, while also being a skilled cook. Despite being slim, she was called the “garbage disposal” of the family because she could eat anything that no one else wanted.
A bit of a tomboy, Amanda loved outdoor activities such as roller skating and skateboarding. She also had a passion for travel and often accompanied her grandma and grandpa Currence or aunt and uncle Rollins on trips. Dogs held a special place in her heart, and she always had a furry companion by her side.
Amanda’s fearless and adventurous nature earned her the reputation of a little firecracker and daredevil. She was always willing to try new things, even if they posed a risk of injury. Amanda cherished spending time with her children. Being the only grandchild for 10 years, she was spoiled and would often break her toys. However, when ask why she broke them, she replied, “It’s okay, someone will buy me another one.” She also enjoyed teasing her little sisters, which was one of her favorite pastimes.
Surviving in addition to her parents, are her husband, Kyle Karraker; three children, Zephyr, Meliades, and Thalia Karraker; her siblings, Kyla and Tatyana Douglas and Isaiah Sanders; along with her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Whitesell Funeral Home is serving the family.
