Andrew Gene Blue

Andrew “Gene” Blue , 79, of Rock Hill, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Piedmont Medical Center. He was born July 20, 1938 in Rock Hill, son of the late Samuel Andrew and Doris Wheelock Blue.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred Blue and Betty Garcia and brother, Harvey Blue.

Gene enjoyed playing the guitar, weight lifting, playing baseball and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Catawba Ward and avid Green Bay, Gamecock and Cubs fan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Margaret Kennerly Blue; son, Andy Blue and wife, Jenny of Rock Hill; daughters, Lunette Martin and husband, Gary of Chester and Wanda Darby and husband, Richard of Chester; eight grandchildren, Holly (Lance), Crystal (Rick), Carrie (Brian), Kim (Brad), Erica (Brad), Tabitha, Lana and Caleb; fourteen great-grandchildren, Beth, Tripp, Joseph, Dylan, Abby, Faith, Hunter, Ansley, Zoe, Emma, Aiden, Abel, Bentleigh and Wyatt; and three nieces, Barbara Talley and husband, Leonard, Marlene Pittman and husband, Tommy and Michele Atkinson and husband, Sean, all of Rock Hill; and several great nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Catawba Ward. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:30 PM at the church. Burial will follow at the Catawba Ward Church Cemetery.
