Barbara Jean Snipes

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Barbara Jean Snipes, born April 10, 1944, went to be with her Lord on Saturday August 1, 2015.

She was the daughter of the late Faris Ira Johnson and Julia Bell Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald B. Snipes; her sister, Linda Fox; her sister, Arlene Cauthen and a brother, Michael Johnson. She is survived by her only son, Gerald "Kyle" Snipes and many beloved nieces and nephews who were like her own.

She was born in Rock Hill where she spent her entire life, married for 48 years to the love of her life, Gerald B. Snipes. During her last years she provided excellent care for her husband, "Jerry" for 15 years after he suffered a stroke. Before that she worked by his side at Snipes' Pawn Shop in downtown Rock Hill. It is a true testament of love that she was able to join him two months and 29 days after his passing. She raised her only son, Gerald "Kyle" Snipes. Being a wife and a mother were her greatest joys. She loved everyone like family, never meeting a stranger, always putting others before her self.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2015, at Grace Ministries at 1511 Mt. Holly Road. The Memorial service will immediately follow. Family and friends may join us afterwards at the home of Keith and Beth Hallman as we continue to celebrate our love and special memories of our newest Angel, Barbara Snipes.
