Barbara Mae Wherry

Barbara Mae Wherry, “Bob”, 83, of Rock Hill, SC and formerly of New York laid her head to rest and went to be with her Lord Jesus Tuesday November 7, 2023. She was born February 9, 1940, in the Bronx, New York, daughter to Gladys and Robert Haley Jr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters; Carrie Giles, Marilyn Haley, and Delores Johnson. Barbara loved her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed and loved time with her family and friends, listening to music, dancing, and watching the Hallmark channel. Barbara was an avid Golden State Warrior and Charlotte Hornet fan. Her favorite players were Stephen Curry and Lamelo Ball, and she enjoyed watching the game and rooting for the players. Christmas was her favorite and most beloved holiday with presents under the tree for her Jesus. Her favorite and most peaceful place to visit was the beach, the sand in her toes, the sun on her face and the beautiful sound and view of the water crashing on the shoreline.

Barbara met her husband of 43 years William Wherry Sr. working at the local Bronx post office. Shortly after they relocated and bought their family home in Rock Hill, SC. She will forever be loved and remembered as a wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother, blessed great grandmother, and friend.

She leaves a legacy to be cherished and beloved by her survivors, husband William Wherry Sr; children Gary Haley, James Page (Raquel), Diana Page, Laura Wherry, and William Wherry Jr. (Monica). The grandmother of fifteen is Gary Jr., Nyasha, Leilani, James Jr., Christopher, Joel, George, Michael, Jason, Alexis, Malik, Makari, Makhi, Josiah, and Cheyenne. Barbara was also blessed with 16 great grandchildren. She is very much loved and will be missed by all.

Barbara was a generous and loyal follower of God and an active member of Lake Wylie Christian Assembly devoting her time and energy for her Lord.
