Barbara Young

September 16, 1952 — January 18, 2025

Clover, SC

Barbara Young, 72, of Clover SC passed away surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, January 18th, 2025. She was a beloved mother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Barbara was born September 16, 1952 in Brooklyn NY to the late Arthur Heckel and Agnes Lorraine Lakner. She graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 1970.

Barbara was a beautiful person, inside and out. She cherished life and enjoyed spending time with her loved ones- reminiscing and playing games. She loved being outside in the sunshine, whether it was gardening, floating in the pool or just reading a book. She was a creative soul who enjoyed crafting and creating handmade treasures for others. She had such a contagious, vibrant spirit for people. She always made friends everywhere she went. She always made people smile, even in her last hours. She had an incredible network of neighbors and friends who were instrumental in navigating her journey. Bobby, Nikki and Jeanie were more than neighbors; they were family.

She was preceded in death by her birth father Arthur Heckel, brother Rick Heckel, stepfather Terry Swanson, mother Agnes Lorraine Swanson and brother in law, Gary Davis. She is survived by her sister, Lorrie Swanson Davis, her daughter, Sunny Sain and son, Justin Young.

The family would like to thank everyone who were so helpful, supportive and gracious to her as well as the family.

A private celebration of life will be held for family members only.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends carry on her legacy and her love of gardening by planting a tree or plant or flowers in her honor.
