Benedetto Ferrara

Benedetto Ferrara, 82, of Fort Mill, SC left the earth and entered heaven to be with the Lord on November 17, 2014. Benedetto was born on January 25, 1932 in Palermo, Italy to Giovanni Ferrara and Benedetta Di Marco. He married his wife Gina Ferrara from Palermo, Italy of 59 years in Belmonte Mezzagno, Italy on November 5, 1955. They then moved to Long Island, New York in the town of Oakdale in 1957. Together they ran a successful coat factory called F & D Ladies Coats and Suits for 15 years. They then sold the business and decided to open up two restaurants from 1980-2000. They retired in 2000 and moved to Fort Mill, SC in January 2012. Benedetto was a dedicated family man that loved to fish, hunt, and garden. He loved being outdoors and spending time with his family. He loved his beagle hunting dogs and enjoyed making his unique home-made wine. Benedetto is survived by his wife, Gina Ferrara, three children, John Ferrara, Salvatore Ferrara, and Maria Ferrara DeMeo, his six grandchildren; Dina Marie DeMeo, Christopher Joseph DeMeo, Michael Anthony DeMeo, Anthony Louie DeMeo, Salvatore Benedetto Ferrara, and Giovanni Virgilio Ferrara. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Palmetto Funeral Home. A memorial service was held on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Palmetto Funeral Home in Fort Mill, SC. Online condolences to the family can be made at www.palmettofh.com.
