Benjamin Francis Brovet, 68, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 21, 2016. He was born on December 7, 1947 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late Benjamin and Dorothy Brovet. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Melanie Philbin.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Darla Brovet, and five children and their spouses: Jeff and Erin Brovet, Sean and Cathy Brovet, Monica and Hunter Houck, Andrea and Jon Skillman and Sara and Jason Purcell. Ben adored his 8 grandchildren: Lucas, Ethan, Bongiwe, Ava, Becket, Louisa, Weston and Graham. He is also survived by his sister and her husband, Veronica and Dennis Reilly, and two beloved sister in laws, Deniece Peeples and Theresa Kelly, as well as the families of his nieces and nephews, Sean Reilly, Devin Reilly, Heather Rummerfield and their families.
His passing was sudden, which is how he always hoped his life on this earth would conclude. Ben was an avid golfer and sports fan (Steelers, Pirates, Tar Heels and Volunteers). He was an entrepreneur at heart, the founder of Champion Hills Country Club with his father, and had a passion for writing. He was known by his children as the "famous ham casserole maker" and claimed to be the "1958 Under 12 U.S. Ping Pong champion". Ben loved his meats and breads. His family is confident he is now eating bacon with Jesus.
As C.S. Lewis once said, "Has this world been so kind to you that you should leave with regret? There are better things ahead than any we leave behind."
There will be a gathering of family and friends on August 25 to celebrate Ben's life from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Red Fez Club Picnic Shelter on Lake Wylie, 16600 Red Fez Club Road, Charlotte, NC.
