Bernice I Coggins

Macie Bernice Irby Coggins was born in Edgemoor, SC October 18, 1924 to the late Clarence and Williemay Irby. She attended Mt Holly School and graduated from Oakley Hall School. She served in the US Army WACS two years and was honorably discharged at Fort Bragg. Bernice was a member of Heath Memorial United Methodist Church was wore many hats including Sunday School Teacher. She retired from Manetta Mills after over 40 years of employment. She was preceded in death by her husband of 12 years, Thurman Coggins and by her siblings, CF Irby, Roland Irby, Wayne Irby, and Gertie Wyant. She is survived by her three sons, Kenny Coggins (Boo), Stanley Coggins (Sue), Bruce Coggins; sisters, Rubanell Vinson, Betty Goodale; brother, Richard Irby; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, September 2, 2016 at 2:00pm in the Lando Cemetery with the Rev. Nellie Cloninger . The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00pm Thursday evening at the Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina or to the Heath Memorial United Methodist Church.
