Bettie Jane Jackson Westerlund

Bettie Jane Jackson Westerlund, 86, of Rock Hill, SC passed away Monday, March 17, 2014. Born in Gastonia, NC, Mrs. Westerlund was a daughter of the late David McClain Jackson and Mary Frances Hogue Jackson. She was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, M.D. "Tight" Westerlund; a sister, Mary Elizabeth McKee; a brother, Donald Jackson; and a great-granddaughter, Allison Elkins. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Elkins (Bobby) of Moncks Corner, SC and June Westerlund (Ken Gendreau) of Lexington, SC; a brother, James Jackson; a sister, Rebecca Roberson; 3 grandchildren, Michael Elkins, Elizabeth Gendreau, and Suzanne Dobson; 3 great-grandchildren, Suzi Dobson, Zane Dobson, and Jackson Elkins. The family would like to express their appreciation to all the family and friends who provided support during Bettie's illness especially her special nieces Mary Etta, Brenda and Libby. The family would also like to thank Dr. Naidu and his staff, Hospice and Community Care, and Morningside Assisted Living for their excellent care. A graveside service will be held 2pm Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Forest Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Community Care or to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
