Betty Armstrong

August 18, 1926 — June 20, 2010

Betty Ann Davis Armstrong, 83, of 1345 Pinecrest Drive, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010 while vacationing with her family in Myrtle Beach, SC. A native of Greenville, SC, Mrs. Armstrong was born August 18, 1926 a daughter of the late Benjamin Houston and Addie Curry Davis. She was a retired financial secretary from St. John's United Methodist Church where she was a member. She was very active in her church where she served on numerous committees and was a member of The Barber Hardin Sunday School Class. She enjoyed her Bridge Club, Set back Group and her friends at the YMCA. Mrs. Armstrong was also a very dedicated volunteer at Piedmont Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert James Armstrong; and two sisters Mary Morris and Margaret Smith both of Greenville. Surviving are four daughters Cathy Kemp of York, Patty Hovis and husband Steve of Rock Hill, Jane Armstrong of Rock Hill, Gaye Ehmann and husband Wayne of Fuquay, NC; nine grandchildren Brian Hovis and wife Cece, Brett Hovis and wife Casey, Taylor Kemp, Maralee K. Hall and husband Ted, Ross Hovis, Reid Hovis, Harper Kemp, Shelby and Charlie Ehmann; two great grandchildren Grayden and Briggs Hovis and her loyal dog Carly. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm Thursday at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home and following the service in the Family Life Center. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Armstrong will be held Friday at 3:00pm at St. John's United Methodist Church with Reverend Ken Owens and Reverend Sandra King officiating.
