Betty Juanita Blue Garcia
, 92, died Monday, September 11, 2017, at her home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Catawba Ward. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Catawba, SC Mrs. Garcia was a daughter of the late Andrew Blue and Doris Whellock Blue. She was the oldest living member of the Catawba Nation at her death at 92 years old. She worked for many years in the primary department at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Catawba Ward. She was an avid walker up until the time she became disabled. She will be remembered as a lady who was very devoted to her family.
Surviving are her three daughters, Barbara Talley (Leonard), Marlene Pittman (Tommy), and Michele Atkinson (Sean); a brother, Gene Blue (Margaret); five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and one nephew; and thirteen great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Garcia; a brother, Harvey Blue and a sister, Mildred Blue.
The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at Whitesell Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731.
