Betty Jean Maples Mcateer

Betty Jean Maples McAteer , 78, of Fort Mill, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 11, 1939 in Chesterfield County, SC, daughter of the late Boyce Columbus and Bertha Vincent Maples.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her loving husband, Gerald D. McAteer; daughter, Dorothy Jean McAteer; grandson, Jordan Pike; three brothers; and two sisters.

Jean had such a kindred spirit and was always willing to help anyone in need.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Greg McAteer and wife, Janet of Rock Hill, Ronnie McAteer of Fort Mill, Cindy McAteer Pike and husband, Shane of Lesslie and Wanda McAteer Giambelluca and husband, Joseph of Rock Hill; eight grandchildren, Kerrie McAteer, Lyndsey Pippin, Angel Stanton, Kevin McAteer, Dustin Pike, Hunter Pike, Joshua Wilson and Joseph Wilson; twelve great-grandchildren; and brother, Boyce Maples of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, March 28, 2017 at Whitesell Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Whitesell Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Sturgis and Pastor Brian Keith officiating. Burial will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations by made to Providence Care, 1736 Old York Road, York, SC 29745.

The family would like to sincerely thank the entire staff of Providence Hospice Care for their supportive, loving and compassionate care shown to them. Your service will never be forgotten.
