Betty Keener Melton

Betty Jean Keener Melton, 62, of 210 Marietta Street, passed away Sunday December 13, 2009 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC. A native of Fallston, NC, Mrs. Melton was born April 22, 1947 a daughter of William Joe and Letha Martin Keener both of Smyrna. She was a homemaker and member of Unity at Calvary Church of God. Mrs. Melton was preceded in death b y a daughter Ruby Keener and a brother James Vester. Surviving are six children James Keener of Lawndale, NC, Daphney Couch of Blacksburg, Sherry Watson of Smyrna, Joe Melton of Blacksburg, Charles Neelands of Gaffney and Pam Hall of Blacksburg; brothers Jimmy Keener of Smyrna, Clarence Keener of Kannapolis and Lawrence of Blacksburg; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Melton will be held Wednesday at 1:00pm at Unity at Calvary Church of God with Pastor Kenneth W. Rabon, Sr. and Reverend Chris Ballard officiating. Interment will follow at Unity Cemetery in Ft. Mill. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until the hour of service on Wednesday at the church.
