Betty Ogburn Richardson

Mrs. Betty Ogburn Richardson, 82, died August 25, 2009, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House-Hospice and Community Care. Born November 24, 1926 a daughter of the late Edward William and Mamie Rebecca Worthy Ogburn and preceded in death by her husband J.E. Richardson. Mrs. Richardson was a member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church where she was Deacon, Elder, Superintendent of Sunday School and teacher, Church Treasurer, Bible Study Teacher, member of the Providence Presbytery Council and Commissioner to the General Assembly. She graduated from Rock Hill High School and Winthrop University with a B.S. in Accounting Magna Cum Laude and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi honorary society. Mrs. Richardson retired as Senior Accountant with Winthrop University after thirty years of service. She was Regent of The Catawba Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Vice President of the local Rock Hill Runners Club and finished the San Francisco Marathon a the age of 58. She was a Tutor for the Disadvantaged children, Volunteer for John Spratt, US Congressman and member of The Red Hat Society. Surviving are her children Barbara Allen Richardson Testor, and husband Jim of Columbia, Ann Ogburn Richardson Melton of Rock Hill; one brother Edward William Ogburn of N. Myrtle Beach, two sisters Mrs. Linda Rose Ogburn Pilcher of Rock Hill, Mrs. Doris Anne Ogburn Erkes of Wilmington, NC, one granddaughter Ashley Elizabeth Courier and husband Aaron of Roebuck, S.C. ; and one great-grandson, Noah Michael Courier of Roebuck, S.C. A private family graveside service was held at Laurelwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Wayne T.
