Betty Cook Ross, 79, of 8857 Charlotte Highway, passed away Monday March 30, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville. A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Ross was born September 23, 2009 a daughter of the late Paul Alexander and Sallie Freeze Cook. She was retired photo stripper for Delmar Printing Company after 35 years of service and was a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church in Indian Land. She was preceded in death by her husband Maurice Ravann Ross, a brother Paul A. Cook, Jr. three sisters Alice C. Snow, Murphine C. Ferguson and Edith C. Teeter. Surviving are two daughters Nancy Mullis and husband Sam of Indian Land and Martha Ellen Ross of Charlotte; a granddaughter Susan D. Brooks and husband Scott of Indian Land; a brother Billy Ray Cook of Indian Land, a sister Sallie C. Hilton of Lancaster; a stepbrother Dr. Thomas Culp of Indian Land also numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ross will be held Thursday at 4:00pm at Banks Presbyterian Church in Marvin, NC with Reverend Scott Hilborn officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
