Betty Clampitt Sawyer, 72, of York, passed away peacefully Monday, August 29, 2017 at White Oak Manor Nursing Home in Rock Hill. She was born October 27, 1944 in Bryson City, NC, daughter of the late William Thomas and Lola Mae Fortner Clampett. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, William Troy Clampett and William Charles Clampett. After her retirement as an accountant, Betty proudly volunteered at York Prep Academy. Most important to her was her precious family and she adored her children, grandchildren, partner and siblings. She was the loving and devoted mother of her children, David Eugene Sawyer and wife, Ashley of Charlotte, NC, Jennifer Leigh Sawyer-Rayos and husband, Mike of Morrisville, NC and Virginia "Ginger" Leigh Sawyer and husband, Mike of York; beloved partner of 28 years to John "David" Anthony of York; proud and cherished grandmother of five grandchildren, Tess Sawyer Hyde, William Maddox Sawyer, Luke Sawyer Rayos, Emma Kate Sawyer and Gabriel Sawyer Rayos; and treasured sister to her siblings, James Lonnie Clampett and wife, Karen of Wellborn, FL, Margaret Ann Laugheed of Gastonia, NC and Lassie Mae Crawford of Newport News, VA. A Celebration of Betty's Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home in Rock Hill with Pastor Ron Robinson officiating.
