Betty Sadler Sutlive

November 23, 1921 — June 5, 2010

Elizabeth "Betty" Sadler Sutlive, 88, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Piedmont Medical Center. Known as "Betty" she was widowed by David Hope Sadler, II of Rock Hill and Charles Mark Sutlive of Savannah, GA. A memorial service to celebrate Betty's life will be held Tuesday at The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour at 2:30pm with Father Charles Foss officiating and in the chapel of St. John's Church in Savannah, GA at a later date. Burial will be private at Laurelwood cemetery in Rock Hill. The family will receive friends in the social hall of The Episcopal Church in Rock Hill after the service. She was born in Charleston, SC and Christened in Grace Episcopal Church there. She was a member of St. John's Church in Savannah, GA and an associate member of The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour in Rock Hill. Betty received a B.S. Degree from Winthrop University and also a Master's Degree. She did further graduate work at Armstrong University in Savannah, GA. She was a retired school teacher and later became the Southeastern Sales Representative for Electron Microscopy Sciences and Diatome, US. She was named as a distinguished corporate member by the Southeastern Electron Microscopy Society, and the Appalachian Region of Electron Microscopists. She was also selected as a corporate member at Large for SEMS. In Rock Hill she was a member of The Junior Welfare League, a former member of the Perihelion Literary Club, a former charter member of The Debutante Club. She also was an organizer of The Glencairn Garden Club. In Savannah she was a member of the Gordonston Garden Club and The Gordonston Grands Garden Club, The English Speaking Union and The Coastal Scottish Heritage Society. She is survived by her sons and their wives Richard Samuel and Belinda White Sadler of Rock Hill and David Hope, III and Jenice Cox Sadler of York; four grandchildren Carolyn Ann Sadler, David White Sadler, Elizabeth Louise Sadler and David Hope Sadler, IV; also one great grandson Balin Winfield Sadler. Memorials may be made in memory of Betty to York Place 234 Kings Mountain Street York, SC 29745-1131 The family would like to express a special Thank You to Betty's caregivers George Plowden, Shannon Deas, Gloria Robinson and Josephine Jordan.
