York - Mr. William "Bill" David Coker, 65, died Monday, June 6, 2011, at Piedmont Medical Center.
For most of Bill's life he owned and operated his own auto mechanics shop. Later in life he traveled with Crown Amusements carnival. When he left Crown Amusements he became a truck driver and drove an eighteen wheeler until his health began declining and was forced to retire on disability. He was a good man and a good father. He was also a fountain of information and knowledgeable about many different subjects because he keep up with things that where happening around the world. He always had a good sense of humor.
Surviving are his son, David Coker; three grandchildren, Crystal Coker; Brandon and Neva Coker; one great grandchild, Aven Coker; his brothers and sisters, Brendan and Doug Crenshaw, Joyce Hawkins, Patricia and Mac Matthews and Timmy Coker; nieces and nephews, Toby and Kim Crenshaw, Brandon and Britney Matthews, Sherry Ledford, Tammy and Kenneth Standridge; great nieces and nephews, Lee Davis, Jonathon Crenshaw, Austin Crenshaw and Carisse Matthews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James David and Winnie Lucille Coker; a sister, Betty Smith and a niece, Pamela Deneane Hawkins.
