Mr. Billy F. "Bill" Burnes passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, in his home surrounded by his family.

Born on February 27, 1943, Bill was a son of Ruby Cox Burris. He was preceded in death by his mother, two brothers, two sisters and his wife of 53 years, Carole Wooten Burnes.

Surviving are his brothers Bobby Burris and Johnny Burris and a sister, Betty Bowser. Also surviving are his daughters, Susan Burnes and LeeAnn (Marty) Howington; grandchildren, Logan (Casey) Seay, Garrett (Kristen) Gillian, Drew (Brittani) Howington and Summer (James) Gilliam; great grandchildren Ridge, Silas and Deacon Seay, Maverick and Ethan Gillian, Rylan Gilliam and great grandson Owen Howington arriving this fall.

Bill started working at Highland Park Mill as a teenager and retired a machinist at Paddock Pool.

Bill was remembered for his love of pitching fast pitch ball for Catawba Baptist Church for many years. He gave his family great memories from the mound.

Bill fought dementia the last several years of his life, but his love for his wife Carole was evident in his smile at the mentioning of her name.

A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Laurelwood Cemetery, Rock Hill, SC.
