Billy J. Morrision

Billy J Morrison, 73, passed away peacefully at his residence in Lake Wylie SC on Monday October 24, 2011 with his family and loving wife of 53 years by his side. Billy fought a courageous battle against cancer. His warm, kind, and gentle spirit will be treasured by family and friends.
Billy was born and raised in Mountain City, Tennessee by his parents Hugh Hamilton Morrison and Opal Love Morrison, who preceded him in death. During his years as a youth in Mountain City, he joined the Boy Scouts of America and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1956. Billy enrolled in ROTC at East Tennessee State University and graduated with a degree in Engineering. Upon graduation he went into the US Army where he served as a 1st Lieutenant at Anniston Army Depot in Anniston, Alabama.
After moving to Charlotte, NC in 1964, he made Captain in the US Army Reserve and served there for seven years. While still in the reserve, he worked for R. H. Bouligny Co. until 1968. He then became a manufacturing engineer for Siemens/Westinghouse where he retired in 2003 after 35 years of service. Billy was a very active member of Grace United Methodist Church from 1964-2005. In 2005, he continued his service to the Lord at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.
Billy spent many hours teaching friends to water ski or just spending the day enjoying the water. He also helped to coach youth sports with his children, served as president of the Charlotte Water Ski Club, and was an active member of the Piedmont Kennel Club.
Billy was survived by his loving wife: Carolyn Milam Morrison of Lake Wylie, SC, one daughter: Donna Morrison Tucker and her husband Jerry Wayne Tucker of Charlotte, NC, one son: Robert William Morrison of Charleston, SC, one brother: Robert Hugh Morrison of Mountain City, TN, two granddaughters: Kelsey Marie Tucker and Jessica Lynn Tucker, and one grandson: Austin Taylor Tucker all of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by many loving cousins throughout the United States.
