CHARLOTTE, NC - Bobby Gene Fennell Sr, lost his battle with cancer on April 15, 2021, at the age of 69. He was at home surrounded by his loving family. Bobby was born July 10, 1951 in Valdosta, GA, the son of Mary Emma (Fennell) Busdecker.
Bobby proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He achieved the rank of DPC Chief Petty Officer before retiring on February 1, 1990. During his service he was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, 4 Good Conduct Medals and the National Defense Medal. After completing his military service, he worked as a courier for DHL. Bobby was an excellent provider with solid presence and strength, loyalty, and pride in his family. He enjoyed taking care of his flower beds, panning for gold, and fishing.
Bobby married DeEtta Kerns on June 10, 1973 and they celebrated almost 48 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, DeEtta (Kerns) Fennell, he is survived by his daughters Christine (Fennell) Downing and Angela Fennell, his son Bobby Gene Fennell Jr., and six grandchildren.
He was and always will be dearly loved and we will miss him. But he will live on in the hearts of his family and the people who loved him.

The service will be held 2:00 PM on May 8, 2021 at Palmetto Funeral Home, 2049 Carolina Place Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29708.
