Carl Manson Brown

Fort Mill Mr. Carl Manson Brown died at the age of 68 on Friday, March 20, 2015. He was born July 10, 1946 in Charlotte, NC to Richard Halley Brown and Margaret Hanna Brown. He spent most of his time as a child with his father who ran the Cheerwine Bottling Co. in Charlotte helping to bottle and deliver Cheerwine. Carl graduated from Garinger High School and attended Furman University. He started his work career at Exxon Mobile and retired from REA Construction Company after 35 years as a credit manager. He had a passion for bottled Cheerwine, guns, cars and million dollar boats. Carl is survived by his wife, Susan C. Brown whom he has been married to for 38 years; his stepson, Karlton Shrum and his wife Mary Ann Shrum of Lancaster, SC; his daughter Elissa Gilleland and husband Josh Gilleland of Clover, SC; grandchildren Jordan Shrum, Josiah Shrum, Kaylee Gilleland, Cole Gilleland, Joel Shrum, Sara Shrum and Lilee Shrum. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00pm Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Palmetto Funeral Home. Carl was a deeply devoted husband, father, and grandfather who had a quick wit, and put his family above everything else. He will be desperately missed and forever cherished.
