Carl C Clark, Jr. (CC, to all who knew him) passed away in Hospice Care of SC at Piedmont Medical Center on January 3, 2019. CC was born April 12, 1931 in Nashville, TN. to the late Carl C. Clark and Elsie Blanch Collier Clark. In addition to his parents, CC was predeceased by his lovely bride, Maraline Tritt Clark, his brother, Bud Clark and his sister, Patricia E. Adcock.
CC joined the Army by his mother signing him in at 16, and became a Army Ranger. He was a Korea War Veteran. After 8 years, he switched to the Air Force and became a communications and logistics expert. He was teaching this in Cheyenne, Wyoming when he met Maraline and married her. He was in the military for 22 years. We moved to Mom's hometown when he retired in 1969. Dad taught ROTC for a year at West Forsythe High School in Winston Salem, NC. He then worked for the US Postal Service for 22 years. He retired and was bored, a friend drove for Enterprise Rent A Car and Dad joined on and drove them for 18 1/2 years.
CC was a member of Masonic Lodge #111, Scottish Rites, and York County Crescent Shrine Club. He was very proud to be able to help children through his Shrine affiliation. He was a Past Chaplain for SC Shrine Association.
As a military family, we loved our travels and Dad loved filming us with his Super 8mm camera. We lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Stephenville, Newfoudland, Bedford, England and Wichita Falls, Texas. We camped at Ocean Lakes on our permanent spot for many years, but you would never find him on the beach. He did that for Mom and us.
To remember him fondly and the many memories they made together are his daughters: Karen Clark Pounds (Steve) and Angela D. Clark; his granddaughter, Carly Clark Huneycutt (Jason); his two great grandchildren: Caleb Idlett and Cheyenne Idlett. CC had many in-laws that he loved.
