Carol Mary Munoz, 82, of 2230 Orson Drive, Indian Land, SC, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
Born and raised in New York City, Carol was a daughter of the late Julius Manheimer and Mary Ellen (Downing) Manheimer. She resided in many cities and towns across the United States with her beloved husband of 63 years, Ted Munoz.
Family was Carol’s highest priority and greatest treasure, and that extended to her lifelong friendships. She never missed a birthday, wedding or special occasion, and was an exceptional cook. If you were fortunate enough to be a guest in her home, she made a point to find out and prepare your favorite food for you.
Carol was a proud stay-at-home mom, and nurtured grandchildren, godchildren, neighbors’ children and family friends, caring for them if they were her own. She was intensely proud of her family, and their success can be attributed to her influence. She believed in the people she loved, sometimes, more than they believed in themselves.
Carol was equally as driven as her husband and children. She would agree with the sentiment if you described the Munoz family as driven. “Guilty as charged”.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas McGovern.
Carol leaves a legacy to be cherished by the surviving members of her family and lifelong friends and godchildren. She is survived by her husband, Ted Munoz, of Indian Land, SC, her daughters Julie Davis and husband, Talbot of Charlotte, NC; Alison Munoz and husband Larry Novacich of Bala Cynwyd, PA; and her son Edward (Eddie) Munoz and wife Susan of Sparta, NJ.
Carol was blessed with six grandchildren: Taylor Underwood (Nate); Riley Davis (Natalie); David and Isabel Novacich; and Hailey and Chris Munoz. Carol’s friends who she considered family include: Marilyn Shane, Patricia Zervos, Rosemary Nelson, Teresa Caylor, Linda Beatty (Reggie) and Kevin Shane (Amy).
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the hospice nurses (Epic Care Health), physicians and staff – especially Gloria Proto (Senior Helpers) – for the unwavering, compassionate and supportive care they provided. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life service will be held by the family in the theater at Greenway Square, 2230 Orson Drive, Indian Land, SC August 22 at 3pm. Reverend Talbot Davis will officiate. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association
