Charles William (Will) Dewey passed away August 16, 2021, as a result of injuries he sustained in a tragic motor vehicle accident. He was born April 10, 1999.
Will was a lifelong resident of Fort Mill, South Carolina and a graduate of Fort Mill High School and attended the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama on the President’s Outdoor Scholarship, showcasing not only his lifelong love of fishing but his success on the High School Fishing Series as a member of the York County High School Anglers. Will finished 2nd in the South Carolina High School Championship and Qualifying for the High School National Championship on Kentucky Lake. Will also worked for Cherokee Construction while pursuing his dream to compete on the Major League Fishing Circuit.
Will’s love for life and the outdoors was so passionate; and his loving and beautiful character, infectious to all of his friends and family. While a life far too short, Will lived every moment to the fullest, with a determination to exceed his goals but with compassion and love for everyone around him. The family is overwhelmed and grateful for all of the outpouring of love and support, so reflective of who Will was and how many lives he touched.
You will be missed by many but your soul will live on and is now free to soar across the heavens with all of the love and light you held in your heart.
Will was preceded in life by grandparents, Pete Dewey, Brenda Wilson; Great Grandparents, Charles and Carolyn Dewey and Charles Lookabill and Maybell Lookabill.
Survivors include his parents, Alex and Melanie Dewey; brother, Kaleb Dewey; grandparents, Pete and Linda Hall (Fort Mill, SC); James Wilson (Butler, TN), Joel and Georgianna Bruno (Slidell, LA); Aunts and Uncles, Carey and David Haynes (Nashville, TN), Jim and Anita Rittendale Wilson (Atlanta, GA), Beth Taylor (Atlanta, Georgia), Susan and Dearomd McGarity (Charlotte, NC) and Garland and Nancy Faison, and Gene Lookabill; cousins, Drew Haynes, Matthew Haynes, Georgie Haynes (Nashville, TN), Adelaide Wilson, James Wilson (Atlanta, GA), Davidson McGarity, Carrie and Tyler Smith (Charlotte, NC) and Amber and David O’Connell, Lagena Lookabill Greene, Danny Greene, and Gene Lookabill Jr. Will is also survived by a large, incredible group of friends and community.
