Charles Delbert Grim

September 13, 1933 — December 7, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Charles Delbert Grim, “Del” to those who knew him, announces his passing at the age of 91 on December 7, 2024.

Del was born on September 13, 1933 in Republic, Kansas. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Imperial, Nebraska, where he spent the remainder of his youth. After graduating from Chase County High School in 1951, Del went on to receive a degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska in 1955.

Del began his career with the Boeing Military Aircraft Company before joining the U.S. Army in 1957, where he served for more than 20 years as a helicopter pilot and fixed wing maintenance supervisor, including two tours in Vietnam.

Del married his bride, Anna Grim, in 1956, and together, they built a beautiful life. Their 68-year marriage was an extraordinary testament to love, devotion, and partnership. Through the ups and downs of military life, including deployments and moving their three daughters around the world, including Germany and Korea, Del and Anna remained steadfast in their commitment to one another. Their bond grew stronger over the decades, and they truly exemplified the meaning of a lifelong partnership.

After retiring from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1978, Del spent a few years sharing his knowledge as a professor at the local community college before becoming an entrepreneur in real estate, property management, and consulting. In retirement, Del enjoyed traveling with his wife, visiting their daughters and families, and an afternoon on the golf course.

Del was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Delpha, siblings, Margaret and Donald, and grandson, John Paul. He is survived by his wife, Anna, daughters Debra (Timothy), Kathryn (Larry), and Patricia (Timothy), grandchildren Elizabeth (Michael), Rob (Mary), Ashley, Charles (Mary), John (Giela), Joseph, Sam, and Paige (Trevor), great-grandchildren Anastasia, Aloysius, Nathaniel, Lyla, Ali, Timothy, Henry, Rose, Veronica, Oliver, Adesza, and Romy, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Del was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and neighbor. He lived a full life, rich with memories that will continue to be cherished by all who knew them. Del was especially loved by his grandchildren, who will always remember his love of animals, steak, chocolate, and the Huskers. He is equally remembered by his grandchildren for his dislike of bananas.
