On Friday, May 13, at age 95, Charles Alfred Parkis passed from this life and went to be with his savior and his beloved wife Wilma. Charles was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was born March 31, 1921 in Menlo, Iowa to Charles and Electa Parkis. Charles was a World War 2 Navy veteran, serving with distinction in the Pacific. Before the war, he began a career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, starting out as a clerk. After returning home from the Pacific, Charles was appointed to a position as special agent in 1948. He retired from the Bureau in 1972, having received many commendations. He was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, serving on the missions committee and kept a daily lunch appointment at Ebenezer Grill. He kept his sense of humor and always made people smile. Charles is survived by three daughters: Sherry Nestor (Ron) of Morgantown, West Virginia, Cris Brown (Steve) of Lynden, Washington, and Jan Shope (Fred) of Rock Hill; nine grandchildren; and twenty one great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors Thursday, May 19, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bass Cauthen Funeral Home, 700 Heckle Blvd., Rock Hill. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 20, at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, 2132 Ebenezer Rd., Rock Hill. Memorial gifts may be given to Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Missions Fund.
