Charles (Chockie) Thompson, Sr

York - Rev. Charles F. (Chockie) Thompson, Sr., 74, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2016, at First Assembly of God, Rock Hill, with the Rev. Bernie Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church and other times at the home.

Born in Chester County, Mr. Thompson was a son of the late Alvin C. Thompson, Sr. and Josie Bailey Thompson. He was a devoted and loyal servant of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and faithful to his family. He loved being outdoors and fishing anytime that we could get on the water. Mr. Thompson was the District Commander for 10 years with the Assembly of God Ministries. He also served for 25 years as Royal Rangers Commander (a boys program through the Assembly of God.) He served his country as a Marine. He was born in a large family of 13 and many have gone to be with the Lord.

Surviving are his wife, Juanita M. Thompson; a son, Charles Franklin (Frank) Thompson; a daughter, Bonnie Thompson Whetstine; two brothers, Carol Thompson and Alvin C. (Al) Thompson, Jr.; two sisters, Pat Johnson and Earline Austin; 5 grandchildren, Zachary, Kaitlin Grace, and Caroline Whetstine and Kimberly Dover and Brittney Lockridge; and 4 great-grandchildren.
