Cheryl Lee Zeigler, wife, mother, and Gammy/Grammy, walked into the presence of her Lord and Savior on March 29, 2024, in Lake Wylie, SC. Born on October 10, 1946, in York, PA, she was married to the love of her life, Robert L. (Bob) Zeigler for the past 44 years, who she met while they were both employed by Harley-Davidson in York, PA. After her children were older, she returned to the workforce in the banking industry, first at York Federal Savings & Loan in York, PA, and later at Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union in Summerville, SC, where she ultimately retired in 2012.
Cheryl loved the Lord and accepted him as her Lord and Savior in her 20’s. She served in several ministries at her home church, Riverbluff Church, in North Charleston, SC, where she was a member for over 20 years. She was a part of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Telephone Ministry, was very involved in her ladies’ small group, and participated in various women’s Bible Studies. She loved going out for tea or breakfast with friends and was a part of the JOY Group Senior Adults Ministry.
Everyone always loved Cheryl’s smile, which lit up her whole face. Cheryl was always busy, whether starting a new ministry or teaching Sunday School for children at church, attending Bible Study, leading a Brownie Troop, or jumping in to be her daughter’s middle school cheer coach. She always found a reason to throw a party, and her house was full of her kids’ friends who have fond memories of spending time hanging out with her. She enjoyed shopping and accessorizing, and her shoe collection was brilliant. Her favorite thing was to find a fun pair of shoes, then look for the perfect outfit and jewelry to accessorize them!
She loved football, and after church on Sundays she could be found watching NFL games, most recently her favorite New England Patriots…until Tom Brady went to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, when she suddenly became a Bucs fan!
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Robert Lee Zeigler, as well as their children: daughter Shawna Lee Irish and her husband Carl, of Fort Mill, SC, with their children Katie and Topher; son Scott Zeigler and his wife Sabrina, of Royersford, PA, with their children Sydney and Owen; and daughter Emily Zeigler with her children Tyler and Charlotte, as well as her two brothers Michael Heintzelman (Linda) and Jeffrey Heintzelman (Elizabeth) and their families, both of Delaware. She was preceded in death by her mother Gail (Diehl) Heintzelman, her step-father Robert C. Heintzelman, and her grandparents Floyd C. and Dorothy Diehl.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Lake Wylie Assisted Living and Memory Care for the past three years of care and loving, and Agape Hospice for the wonderful end of life care they provided.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
Agape Hospice of South Carolina
