Clarence H. Baldwin

August 17, 1923 — July 11, 2014

Tega Cay, SC Clarence H. Baldwin, 90, a born again Christian went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 11, 2014. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on August 17th 1923 to Homer and Bertha Thompson Baldwin. After receiving a Bachelor's degree from Youngstown University, he served in the Army Air Corps during WW II. Following his military service, he earned a Master's degree in electrical engineering from Carnegie Institute of Technology, and then worked at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. During a 29 year distinguished career with Westinghouse Electric Corporation he was awarded The Westinghouse Order of Merit, the company's highest honor. Following retirement from Westinghouse in 1985, Clarence served as Treasurer, then Chairman of the Board of Open Air Campaigners, a mission organization. He moved to Tega Cay, SC to become an associate missionary at SIM International in 1988. He served as SIM's U.S. Treasurer from 1989-2001, then as a stewardship representative. Clarence and his wife have been members of Calvary Church for over 25 years where he served as an Elder and a member of the mission board. He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Elsie; their four children, Charles E. Baldwin, Robert D. Baldwin, April E. Beattie and Janet L. Booster; his brother William D. Baldwin; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A celebration of life service, officiated by Calvary Pastor Jorge Prado, will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Palmetto Funeral Home in Fort Mill, SC. The family will receive friends before the service from 10:00 until 11:00 AM. A private family graveside service will follow at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill, SC.
