Clayton Harold Haggit, 89, of McConnells, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, SC. He was born September 1, 1928 in Midland, MI, son of the late Harold Clifford and Mary Pearl Montle Haggit. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Haggit. Mr. Haggit proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked as a carpenter and enjoyed wood-working, traveling, gardening, working on cars and was an avid collector of many things. He leaves to cherish his memory his five children, Phyllis Jean Morden and husband, David of Florence, KY, Mari C. Ashworth of McConnells, April J. Newton of Fairhope, AL, Richard E. Haggit of Fort Mill and Clayton H. Haggit, Jr. and wife, Melissa of Weston, FL; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and three brothers, Roy Haggit of OH, Kenneth Haggit and wife, Shirley of WY and Walter Haggit and wife, Anna Faye of TN. A Graveside Service will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC and those times will be announced when arrangements have been finalized.
