Codrington Lennox Luke Edwards

December 30, 1927 — February 11, 2022

Charlotte

Our beloved husband, father, brother, Codrington Lennox Luke Edwards, of Charlotte, NC departed his life on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Atrium Health Hospital in Huntersville, NC.

Lennox was born in Trinidad and Tobago to the late Eliza Archie and Arnot Edwards.  Lennox had five siblings, Mildred, Leroy, Veronica, Alister and Jean and three close cousins with whom he shared a home, Thomas, Barbara and Gloria Sosa.

Lennox was educated by the Trinidad and Tobago branch of the of the British Public School Education System and during his youth, he was an active member and leader of the Boy Scouts of Trinidad and Tobago.  Upon completion of his education, Lennox studied to become a tailor.  He was employed in this trade, and he also worked as a textile store manager before he left his home country to emigrate to England where he worked with the Ford Motor Company and British Railways.  Before retirement, Lennox worked for Bethlehem Steel in Sparrows Point, MD for 27 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator and Shop Steward for the company’s Labor Union.

During Lennox’s time in England, his cousin introduced him to her friend, Grace Evangeline Sylvester, with whom he confirmed the sacrament of marriage on July 8, 1967.  Lennox and Grace Edwards emigrated to the United States of America and made Baltimore, MD their home for 37 years before moving to Charlotte, NC.  They remained in this committed union for 54 years until Lennox’s demise.

Lennox and Grace had six (6) children, whom they loved and cherished deeply, Richard, Patricia, Lisa, Zarina, Alison and David Sr.  Lennox loved spending time with his family and enjoyed being called “Peepa,” a name given to him by his granddaughter, Naomi Scott.

Lennox will be missed by everyone.

He leaves to mourn:  His wife, Grace, his sister, Jean, his children, Richard (Lynthia), Patricia (Mark), Lisa (Jeff), Zarina, Alison and David Sr. (Jasmin), his grandchildren, Reuben, Nkechi, Nathan, Christopher, Naomi (Griffin), Simone, Claire, Dane, Jhaneal, Kenya, Dachae, India, Brielle and David, Jr., his siblings-in-law, Keith (Grace), Celeste, Deighton (Heather), George (Charlene), Zinna, Jacquelyn, John (Margaret), Paul and Ponti along with Therese, Carlisle and Joseph, who preceded him in death. Lennox also leaves behind a host of generations of cousins, nieces and nephews throughout the United States of America, Canada, Trinidad & Tobago, Grenada, Barbados and England.

Though Lennox is gone, he will never be forgotten…from following the Birds to watching the news all day, Lennox was loved.
