Curtis R Tillman

March 30, 1961 — January 6, 2019

Indian Land - Mr. Curtis "Curt" R. Tillman, 57, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 6, 2019.

Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Palmetto Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeffery McWatters officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

A native of Pineville, NC, Curt was a son of Josephine Bridges Tillman and the late A. B. Tillman. He was a junior fireman when he was 15 years old in Pineville and soon learned it was his passion. After moving to SC, Curt served for 24 years in the Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire Department as a fire fighter and the Assistant Chief. He was the first paid fire fighter that served in Kershaw County. He also served 9 years as Lieutenant with the Fort Mill Fire Department. He was an avid deer hunter and he liked to be known as "The Deer Slayer". He coached his sons baseball teams from T-Ball through Little League for 9 years.

Surviving in addition to his mother, is his wife of 33 years, Beth Knight Tillman; two sons, Tully Tillman (Katie) and Tyler Tillman; a daughter, Maggie Tillman; a brother, Ricky Tillman; a sister, Loretta Epps; and three grandchildren, Caleb Tillman, Marley Tillman, and J.B. Tillman (whom he cherished).

Memorial donations may be made to the Pleasant Valley Fire Department, 9370 Possum Hollow Rd, Indian Land, SC 29707 or Hospice and Palliative Care Palmetto Region, 1057 Red Ventures Dr Suite 150, Fort Mill, SC 29707.
