Curtiss Lee Shoaf

Rock Hill, SC - Mr. Curtiss Lee Shoaf, 82, 1180 Belle Meade Road, past away peacefully in his sleep, on Wednesday, February 18, 2015.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2015, at Whitesell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Attica, Indiana.

Born on January 3, 1933, in Collison, Illinois, Mr. Shoaf was a son of the late James William Shoaf and Gertrude Helen Adams Shoaf and he was the last surviving of their seven children. Mr. Shoaf was a graduate of Charelton High School, Indiana. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. His rank was that of Sergeant. He served in the Army Reserves until 1961. He retired from Inland Container of Rock Hill, SC. He was as a teacher at York Technical College where in 1996 he was awarded the distinguished professor of the year award. As an instructor he loved to guide his students into their future endeavors. He retired as a teacher from York Tech in 1996 but continued to teach part-time classes until 2014. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Rock Hill where he served as a deacon.

Surviving are a son, Jack Shoaf; a daughter, Victoria Wright; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven sister-in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Ann Biddle Shoaf; a son, John Everett Shoaf; and a daughter, Cara LeeAnn Shoaf; his parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
