Daniel Skeet Paul Cope

Lancaster – Mr. Daniel (Skeet) Paul Cope, 68, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Atrium Health Pineville, NC.

The family will receive friends 6 – 8 pm Saturday at Greater Life Baptist Church, 17025 Lancaster Highway, Charlotte, NC 28277. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be gathering at the home of Daniel and Sheila Cope.

Daniel was born February 9, 1951 in Wadesboro, NC and was a son of the late Boyd Livingston Cope and Mary Elizabeth Hildreth Cope. According to Daniel, he started living on September 15, 1978 when he committed his life to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Daniel was devoted to his family and his faith. He was a member of Greater Life Baptist Church (formerly Independent Bible Baptist Church) where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and a Trustee. He was a founding partner of Highways and Hedges Evangelist Tent Ministry.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sheila Cope; five children, Robby Cope, and his wife, Laurie, Karen Cope, Jason Cope, Andrea Cope Ramey, and her husband, Dr. Jason Ramey; and David Cope; two brothers, Doug Cope, and his wife, Chris and Bill Cope; a sister, Peggy Dorman, and her husband, Wayne; six grandchildren, Patrick Cope, Charles Steffani, Sophia Cope, Terrence Brown, Reese Ramey, and Madden Ramey; one great-grandson, Easton Cope; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda McCarver, and an infant brother.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Taylor Alford and Keith Clark from Atrium Health Pineville for their compassion in the last days of Daniel’s life. We would also like to thank Dr. Ashley Sumrall from Levine’s Cancer Institute for her compassion and guidance through this difficult time.

The family would also like to thank all of his caregivers that he has had over the years, especially Metrolina Nephrology for their help in guiding the family through a kidney transplant in 2009. This transplant gave us an additional 10 years with our dad.
