Daniel Floyd Parks, 73, of York, South Carolina, peacefully passed away at his home with his family by his side after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's. Born January 22, 1951, a native of Rock Hill, he was the son of the late James Allen and Margaret Platt Parks. As a teenager, Danny played guitar and organ in a band and continued his passion of playing the guitar, banjo and mandolin throughout his life. He retired from the City of Rock Hill, enjoyed coaching fastpitch softball with Winthrop University, played fastpitch softball and arm wrestled for many years, served as an EMT as well as a volunteer fireman and enjoyed spending mornings with his "coffee group".
Danny is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Cathy Parks; children: Jennifer Culver and Christopher Parks; grandchildren: Matthew, Heather and Conner Culver; his adoring dog, Chloe; and many more loving family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. with a service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Bass Cauthen Funeral Home, 700 Heckle Boulevard Rock Hill, SC. Interment will follow at Adnah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
For those attending the service and as a tribute to Danny no suits are necessary, please come comfortable. The family will be at home for those that would like to visit.
