Daniel Osmond Thompson

Daniel Osmond Thompson (Dan), 47 of Ft. Mill, SC passed away peacefully at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, Rock Hill on July 23, 2013. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 28th at 2:00 pm at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2955 W. Highway 160, Ft. Mill, SC. A reception to celebrate Dan's life will be held after the ceremony at Four Seasons @Gold Hill, 509 Turquoise Way. Dan was born in Landstuhl, Rheinland/Pfalz, Germany on July 19, 1966 to Captain Franklin and Ginger Thompson. He attended Ft. Mill schools and graduated from The Catawba School, Rock Hill, SC in 1984. Dan lettered in four sports at Catawba. He attended Erskine College, Due West, SC and graduated from Wofford College, Spartanburg, SC in 1988. He was in ROTC at Wofford and served as 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army and Reserves. His working career was primarily with MoneyGram International where he was Director of Sales. Dan was dedicated to his children, Perrin and Loew, family and friends and always so sweet and kind to everyone. He loved sports, especially the Carolina Panthers and enjoyed going to games with his brother Chip. Many weekends were spent on the lake with Chip, Dawn, Dylan, Melissa and other friends. He is preceded in death by his father Frank D. Thompson, Jr., grandparents, Frank D. Thompson, Mary Louise Thompson and Ted Whitson of Greensboro, NC, uncles, David Thompson and Richard Thompson. He is survived by his mother, Ginger Thompson, grandmother, Helene Whitson of Greensboro, NC, children, Perrin Thompson and Loew Thompson, brother, Chip (Dawn; cousin, Dylan) Thompson and several uncles, aunts and cousins. Dan will be greatly missed by his best friend, Billy (Jenna) Reynolds of Orangeburg, SC, loving friend Melissa Gaddy and all his Catawba School friends that have been so supportive during this difficult time for Dan.
