Danny Kay Ghent, 57, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House. A native of York County, Mr. Ghent was born April 28, 1951 a son of the late Harvey Lytle and Dorothy Neal Ghent. He was a manager with Rock Hill Telephone Company which is now Comporium, a member of Rock Hill Lodge #111 AFM, a member of The Catawba Chapter Pioneer Club, a former Boy Scout Leader with Mt. Holly Troop #133, served six years with the Army National Guard 263rd Armored Battalion in Rock Hill from 1969 to 1975, a graduate of Rock Hill High School Class of 1969 and was a member of Mt Holly United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister LaRue Brown of Lake Lure, NC. Surviving are his wife Charmaine McClain Ghent; three sons Danny Ghent, Jr. and his wife Ashley of Rock Hill, Charles and Mark Ghent both of the Isle of Palms, SC; a brother Neal Ghent of Rock Hill; four sisters Susan Cooper of NC, Cathy Mendlin of Leander, TX, Pat McWey of Oak Hill, VA and Helen Hernandez of Bradenton, FL. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mr. Ghent will be held Wednesday at 4:00pm at Mt. Holly United Methodist Church with Reverend Dan Bradley officiating. Rock Hill Lodge #111 AFM will provide Masonic rites. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall of the church.
