Dara Donohue Gomm

Dara Donohue Gomm, 67, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away at home on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 after putting up a good ol' Irish fight with pancreatic cancer. Dara was born in New York, New York on October 18, 1947 where she attended Immaculate Heart Academy and fell in love with her high school sweetheart and surviving husband, Jack Gomm. She then attended Laboratory Instititue of Merchandising where her love of fashion and hats was born. Later she would then be blessed to wear the greatest of hats - that of Mother and Nana to her two children, their spouses and grandchildren: Daralyn, Max, Max Jr and Jack Nicholson and Jack, Laetitia and Faustine Joy Gomm. Her charismatic, energizing personality along with an abundance of strength and grace made her loved by all. She has touched many lives and is now in peace as she joins her family that preceded her in death: parents Harold and Rose Donohue, brothers Thomas, Kevin, Brian, sister Rosie Donohue and niece Tia Hansen Brooks.

A memorial mass will be held 11:30 am, Friday, September 11, 2015 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, Dara requested donations be made in her name to either Diabetes Research Institute Foundation at 200 South Park Road, Suite 100, Hollywood, FL 33032, Levine Cancer Institute at 1021 Morehead Medical Drive, Charlotte, NC 28204 or Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region at 1420 East 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
