David James Thomas “Jim” of Asheville, NC, peacefully went to be with the lord on Friday, December 27, 2024. He was born November 22, 1941, in Micaville, NC, son of Rass and Anna Mae Thomas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Iris Woody and Norma Robinson.

Jim attended Western North Carolina University and was a US Army Veteran. He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. 

Most important to him was his family, and he will forever be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and brother.

He leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by his survivors, his daughter Jennifer Thomas Calderwood, son-in-law Sean Calderwood, and granddaughter Alayna Calderwood of Charlotte, NC. Sisters Glenna McIntosh of Burnsville, NC, and Marquieta Wilson and brother-in-law Danny Wilson of Morganton, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Service will be held on January 7, 2025, at 3:00 pm at South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC.

Interment will follow in the spring of 2025 at the Double Island Baptist Church Cemetery.
