David Kevin Rutherford

On Monday, May 5, 2014, David Kevin Rutherford, age 46 passed away at CMC Pineville, North Carolina. Born on September 13, 1967, in Bluefield, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Earl Forrest Rutherford Jr and Linda Hudgins Rutherford. David graduated from Bluefield High School and Bluefield State College. David began his career as a regional sales representative with Hershey Candy Company. He was head quartered in Charleston, West Virginia, Atlanta, Georgia, and Nashville, Tennessee. He then became a sales associate with Packaging Service Company of Houston Texas. David was always quick witted and enjoyed spending his time with family and friends on his dock named the Thirsty Crab in Tega Cay, SC. David never met a stranger. He always had a love for people and was a welcoming host. David enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, and being with the people he loved. While he was in Nashville, David met the love of his life, Kristy Cole, and they were married in July of 2004. David is survived by his wife, Kristy Cole Rutherford, his son Preston Forrest Rutherford and Casey Stancill of Charlotte, NC and granddaughter Riley Ann Rutherford, his mother Linda Rutherford of Fort Mill, SC, his grandmother Jean Hudgins Barnes of Fort Mill, SC, his brother Keith Rutherford of Port Isabelle, Texas, his sister and her husband Julie Rutherford Cobb and Brent Cobb of Knoxville, Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at The Glennon Center in Tega Cay, South Carolina with Rev. Tim Brown of Cowan, TN officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:30 with a service to follow at 2:00. Entombment will be private. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity of your choice.
