David Ray Shackelford

April 16, 1947 — October 4, 2018

David Ray “Shack” Shackelford , 71, of Jefferson, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill. He was born April 16, 1947 in Rock Hill, SC, son of the late Paul and Birtie Henderson Shackelford.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Bradley and brother, James Shackelford.

Shack was a lifelong hunter, avid motorcycle and car enthusiast and a jack of all trades. He enjoyed riding his 49 Panhead, playing his guitar and singing. He worked as a master mechanic in Charlotte, NC and Rock Hill.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cathy L. Shackelford; daughters, Gina McGraw (Bobby), Carol Brown (Scott) and Cheryl Shackelford; grandchildren, Corey Bailey (Rachel), Alex Brown and Jackson Shackelford; great-grandchildren, Ethan Bailey, Waylon Clark and Weston Walton; sisters, Shirley Misskelley (Bobby), Pauline Estes, Joanie Morgon and Tonda Smith (Glenn); brother, Roger Shackelford; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Whitesell Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Devinney officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home before the service and at other times at the home of Carol and Scott Brown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Shack’s memory to Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
