David Nelson Vance

David Nelson Vance, 71, of 1225 Dunlap Roddey Road, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at his residence. A native of Blount County, Tennessee, Mr. Vance was born August 24, 1937 a son of the late James H. and Effie Moles Vance. He was retired from Engineering, a member of Second Baptist Church and was a US Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by a brother Clyde Vance. Surviving are his wife Carolyn Lambert Vance; one son Jeff Vance of Rock Hill; one granddaughter Jaidan Vance of Rock Hill; two sisters Nellie Gilland of Marion, NC, Margaret Guffey of Union Mills, NC, Louise Blackwell of Fingerville, SC, Fae Haulk of Forest City, NC and Juanita Roach of Rutherfordton, NC; brothers Ernest, Roy and Troy Vance all of Rutherfordton, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mr. Vance will be held Friday at 2:00pm at Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road with Reverend Robert Porterfield officiating.
