Graveside services for David Endel Watson of Rock Hill, SC and Vero Beach, FL will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, April 24 in Laurelwood Cemetery, Rock Hill, SC with the Rev. Sandra King officiating. Mr. Watson died Saturday, April 17, 2010 in Vero Beach, FL. Born in Fitzgerald, GA on July 14, 1922, he was a son of the late John Humbert Watson and Buena Vista Wood Watson. He graduated from Vanderbilt University. During World War II he served in the US Navy and was discharged with the rank of Second Lt. He began his career working with the Duke Endowment Foundation. For many years afterwards, he worked as a hospital administrator in Nashville, TN, Newport News, VA, and Rock Hill, SC. He retired from HEW in Washington, DC after serving in various capacities. He was a member of St. John's Methodist Church, The Rotary Club, and the Order of the Masons. He loved to travel and visited many countries with his friends and introduced the world to his nieces. He is survived by his nieces Nancy Cheek of Camden, Judy McCoy of Columbia, and Susan McCoy of Kennett Square, PA. His brothers Foster Watson of Fitzgerald, GA, Wesley Watson of Camden, SC and Francis Watson of Rock Hill, SC predeceased him.
