Dena Brown Bottomly

Dena Brown Bottomly passed away on October, 17, 2013 at the age of 83 after suffering a massive stroke. She was born in Raleigh on May 6, 1930 (on her Mother's 24th Birthday). Graduated from Broughton High School and attended Peace College. She retired from Burroughs-Wellcome (Glaxo-Smith-Kline) after 26 years of service. Prior to that she had been a secretary in Washington, DC for several Congressmen and a U.S. Senator. She modeled and was "Miss Wolfpack" for NCSU in 1949. She loved being a mother more than anything else. She is survived by her three children: Roy Bottomly of Montana; Karen Mendenhall and her husband ,Dave, of Charlotte; and Van Bottomly of Rock Hill, SC; She has six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and an amazing person. She is now at peace. The family is having a private service. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Charlotte.org.
