Dennis Joe Hopkins, 68 of Rock Hill, SC peacefully went to the Lord on Monday, March 22, 2021. He and his loving wife, Lisa, lived a life that was full of love, fun and adventure. Dennis had owned his own business in Charlotte and had served the building industry for many years. Dennis was an avid hunter and fisherman his entire life and his best days were quail and pheasant hunting in the early morning hours or fishing off the coast of SC.
In addition to his loving wife, Dennis is survived by his mother Lena of Rock Hill, his brother Kenneth Hopkins and wife Juli of Katy, TX; his brother David Hopkins and wife Cathy of Spring, TX and his sister Luanne Hawkins and husband William of York, SC. He was also loved by his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He always kept them smiling with his funny stories and life experiences.
Dennis was the consummate salesperson that always met people with a smile and a handshake. After graduating from Rock Hill High School, Dennis began his selling career. He progressed with several companies until landing his job with Ashe Brick Company in Van Wyck, SC. He found his calling and launch his lifelong profession. Over the years Dennis’ success led to him opening his own sales company and eventually evolved from just brick to all types of building materials. He operated his successful company for more than 40 years. He was assisted and worked side- by-side with Barbara Taylor for most of his career. Dennis also loved his hunting dogs that worked the fields with him over the years and although he had many breeds over the years he especially loved his many loyal labs!
Lisa would like to especially thank her sister for her steadfast support and the many nurses and personnel that help Dennis in the later stages of his illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to either the ALS Association for research at ALS.org or to First Presbyterian Church Rock Hill at FPC-Rockhill.org.
