Dennis Farrel Mckenzie

CHESTER- Dennis Farrel McKenzie, 64, died Sunday, August 23, 2015, at his home.

Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Friday, August 28, 2015, at Grandview Memorial on Cherry Road in Rock Hill with Rev. Larry Soles officiating. A reception will immediately follow the burial at the home of Jonathan and Katie, 1420 Greenmoor Rd. Rock Hill, SC 29732.

A native of Monte Vista, Colorado, Dennis was the son of the late Merle and Gladys McKenzie, and the husband of the late Brenda Brakefield.

Today we mourn the loss, yet celebrate the life, of Dennis McKenzie. Dennis was a husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. Anyone who met him knew how proud he was to be every one of those. He was a man whose smile and one liners were as much apart of him as his family and the scars acquired from a life of hard work and sacrifice to support that family. Dennis never had an easy life, but he never prayed for a lighter load, only a stronger back to carry it. Giving everything of himself and asking nothing in return was the way he lived his life. Today while we mourn our loss, the angels are rejoicing their gain of an amazing man. A man who will be truly missed by many.

Surviving are his wife, Donna McKenzie; his son, Joshua McKenzie (Summer); and step son, Thad Garrison (Cristen); his daughters, Rebecca Funderburk (Brian), Katie Cox (Jonathan); his sister, Donna Sewell; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lyle McKenzie, Donald McKenzie; and his sisters, Lenna Palmgren, and Ailene Reeves.

The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Whitesell Funeral Home.
